Heat transfer machine or heat transfer press machine are usually machines that is used to transfer images to shirts, cups and mags. Instead of sewing in design graphics or brand labels, heat transfer machines use heat to transfer prints to apparels, underwear, sportswear, t-shirts and many more. They come in both small for individual and large sizes for high production manufacturing, manual and automatic. And some semi-automatic that recently entered the market. The resulting products are durable and comfortable compared to their woven counterpart. Many apparel manufacturers adopted the technology and more joining them.

Most heat transfer machines are designed to produce consistent output, has user friendly controls and easy to maintain. Some are designed for hobbyist who enjoys applying inkjet, laser, flock transfers, sublimation, and more. They have built in digital timer, temperature control, temperature gauge, pressure adjustment, and light indicators.

Some heat transfer press machines are designed for multipurpose use. It can be quickly changed from a swing away press to a cup press, cap press, or a plate press. It has attachments that can be easily change to transfer to different type of materials.

Heat transfer machines with multiple heaters and heat zones produces output with a more evenly distributed color transfers. It also heats faster and cools faster which gives you a lot more finished product. Having a number of materials which you can print on should be one of the features to look for. These materials should include but not be limited to banners, signs, flags, fabrics, garments, apparel, gaming tables, polyester, coated fabrics and felts.

Heat Transfer Machines in Action

Most heat press transfer machines available has an aluminum with a heat rod or heating wire cast inside to allow heating the upper part of the machine. The pattern is made using sublimating ink and paper that allows transfer of design patterns.

There commonly two types of heat press transfer machines depending on position of the upper heating element. The first is the clam shell type which is more compact and saves space. It is simple to use in transferring on different materials. The other type is the swing type heat transfer machines which has its upper heating element swing away from the lower platen for easy access to the print materials. It is mostly used in printing athletic numbers and 3D items.
